The year started very nicely with our regular water aerobic classes and a continuation of the "battle of the bulge".  Enjoyed performances at theater and opera--"The Magic Flute" was delightful and "Faust" was awesome.
Assemblymember Kehoe, Congressman Barney Frank sddc officers swearing in ceremonyPat always keeps involved in our community (serves on many local committees) and, in Feb., was elected Treasurer of the San Diego Democratic Club--lots of work.  She enjoys the friendships of the "movers and shakers" (as I call them) and really takes her civic duties seriously.

Chinese ArtistMarch took us to Hawaii for ten days at the Silverman's Bed and Breakfast--what a spectacular view. We visited Martha and Joyce again and went to a gallery showing of a young Chinese girl--amazingly talented.  April--our annual stay at the Crystal Pier. Crystal Pier
Esther, Marie, and Pat in Binghamton Esther @ Zoo with little friendMay brought Sandy's long-awaited trip to Corning, New York for the Paperweight Collectors Assoc. Convention.  We flew into Binghamton where we reunited with friends from our trip to Sweden.  Esther opened her home to us, arranged for the luncheon reunion and gave us an "up close and personal" tour of the local Zoo where she serves as a docent.  After a delightful visit, we headed west to Corning. Paperweight Maker Rick Ayotte and wife with Sandy
Paul Stankard at work on the screen The Corning Museum was fantastic--especially the scientific section that showed the uses of glass throughout history-- really interesting.  However, we also had demonstrations by some of the very best glass artist in the country.  Our banquet dinner was highlighted by chamber music and the teacher/master torch worker, Paul Stankard (center picture). If you've never seen his work--check it out--WOW!  Making dragon goblet
Don and Holly in front of Don and Nancy's home Nancy,Don, Pat, SandyOn to Osterville, Mass. where we stayed for a wonderful week with Nancy and Don.  Breathtaking views, great conversation, places to see and wonderful food--another WOW!!!  Wonderful dinner at Wimpys

Sandy, Myrtle, and Pat Mavis at the San Diego Wild Animal ParkJune brought a too-short stay from Pat's cousin Myrtle and a whirlwind tour of San Diego.  Then Sandy's cousin Mavis arrived from Australia. She stayed long enough to travel a bit:  San Francisco, Solvang, Universal Studios, Disneyland and the usual/terrific San Diego "sites and sounds". Mavis on our trip visiting an indian shop
Dewitt's niece, Pat, sister, and brother in law Pinapple Pat grew in the back yardWe really had a wonderful visit that was to end on 9-13. Luckily, "her plane" had landed at LAX on 9-11 so the   plane and crew were here which enabled her to leave on the 14th.  But it still was a very nerve-wracking time for us all.  Pat at the Wild Animal Park
We have been staying pretty close to home since then.  Sandy now assists our "Loaves of Love" ministry helping the working poor provide for their families--priorities changed.      Hope you have a wonderful new year and...God's peace to all during this holy season.
